Atalanta: Coppola; Pellegrino, Carrozzieri, Capelli, Bellini; Ferreira Pinto, De Ascentis, Guarente, Padoin, Doni and Floccari

First chance of the game falls to Juventus in the 1st minute with Rafael Palladino almost catching Ferdinado Copolla out with a cross.

Speculative shot from Chiellini from all of 40 yards is just over the crossbar in the 4th minute.

Good overhead kick from Doni in the 7th minute but it was over the crossbar.

Good play by Pavel Nedved as he held onto the ball because Dvaid Trezeguet had run into an offside position and then he played a very good pass to Molinaro whose cross was blocked for a corner kick by Carrozzieri in the 8th minute.

Good free kick by Nedved but it was well saved by Coppola in the 11th minute resulting in a corner kick that came to Nocerino, whose volley was just wide off the post.

Floccari brings out a smart save from Gigi Buffon in the 14th minute.

Ferreira Pinto has just wasted Atalanta's best chance of the game so far as Bellini floated a freekick in and he sprung the offside trapset by Juventus but he had so much time to do anything he could have desired but he chose to hit a first-time shot but it was woefully wide in the 16th minute.

Very nice play by Juventus ends up with Molinaro putting in another good cross that was headed out by Pellegrino but it came to Zanetti and his snapshot was just too high in the 17th minute of play.

Excellent play by Nocerino as he leaves his marker for dead by rasing the ball above his head and putting in a good cross that Trezeguet fails to connect with in the 20th minute.

Molinaro has for the umpteenth time put in a pretty decent cross that Trezeguet gets his head to but it was just over in the 22nd minute.

Great off the ball run by Molinaro and was found beautifully by Zanetti but Coppolla made a good save resulting in a corner kick in the 27th minute. The resulting corner kick finds its way back to Nevded but he wasted the chance by over hitting his cross with 3 of his teammates waiting in the penalty area.

Another good play by Nedved as he managed to get in a very good cross from a tight angle that resulted in a corner kick in the 31st minute.

Palladino, who is having a bad game, has just wasted a golden opportunity to put in a decent cross but under no pressure whatsoever he put in a bad cross in the 40th minute to the frustration of his teammates and fans.

Half Time

Juventus 0 Atalanta 0

It has not been a classic by any stretch of the imagination but it has not been a bad game either with Juventus having the bulk of the possession but lacking in both creativity and cutting edge.

Atalanta have looked dangerous whenever Floccari and Doni are on the ball with De Ascentis currently bossing the midfield with the help of Ferreira Pinto and Padoin.

Pavel Nedved and Molinaro have been excellent whilst Trezeguet has won everything in the air against Pellegrino and Carrozzieri but the man of the 1st half has got to be Nocerino as he has been everywhere, helping in attack and snuffing out and signs of danger.

Vincenzo Iaquinta and Rafael Palladino have been extremely disappointing and it would be a surprise to this author of Palladino comes out for the 2nd half as he has lost confidence and the crowd are getting on his back.

Alessandro Del Piero and Marco Marchionni have come on for Iaquinta and Palladino at the start of the 2nd half.

Good cross by Molinaro in the 47th minute but Pellegrino headed out from the danger area.

Good play between Del Piero, Nedved results in Trezeguet being just caught marginally offside in the 53rd minute.

Excellent play by Del Piero to 1st outfox his marker with a good bit of skill by backheeling the ball and then he showed great tenacity to win a corner after Capelli outpaced him to get the ball back in the 58th minute.

Great through ball from Del Piero to David Trezeguet as he lobbed the ball over the head of Pellegrino but Coppola was able to rush out but he in turn missed the ball and was lucky that Pellegrino was able to recover in time to save the situation in the 59th minute.

Another good piece of play by Del Piero as he waited for Molinaro to get into position before putting the ball through and his cross was met by Trezeguet but they ball was just wide in the 61st minute.
Antonio Langella is on for Padoin in the 64th minute.

Rare chance for Atalanta in the 2nd half as Floccari found himself with yards of space in the penalty box but he headed wide in the 69th minute.

Good free kick by Del Piero but it was just wide in the 71st minute after he had been brought down.

Fernando Tissone is on for Tiberio Guarante in the 72nd minute.

Coppola beats out very good free kick by Del Piero from all of 35 yard out for a corner kick in the 78th minute.

Goal for Juventus in the 85th minute by Pavel Nedved as he pounces onto a loose ball that De Ascentis was slow on the uptake, and unleashes a powerful curler that finally beats Coppola from 20 yards out.

Good chance for Atalanta in the 89th minute as Juventus' defence had gone to sleep but Pellegrino completely missed his header.

Tiago is on for Nedved in the 90th minute.

Juventus 1 Atalanta 0

It was not a great game but Juventus thoroughly deserved their victory as Atalanta offered very little in the 2nd half and Juventus especially Del Piero causing all sort of problems for the Atalanta defence.

In all honesty it was not a game littered with chances and not a lot of individual performances to speak of as most players were good in the 1st half like Molinaro, De Ascentis, Nocerino, Nedved and Trezeguet but not so good in the 2nd especially Nocerino and De Ascentis.

Del Piero was far and away the most productive player in the second half with Marchionni almost invisible when he came on but the man of the match should go to Pavel Nedved as he was the match winner.
